Introduction：
Established in 1980, Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBME) is a national, member-based academic organization, involved in advancing medicine and biology through the application of engineering sciences and technology. CSBME became a member of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) in 1986.
The main goals of CSBME are: to provide a scientific platform for biomedical engineers and scientists to exchange new ideas and achievements in the field of biomedical engineering (BME); to promote the advancement of BME in China by organizing national & international academic conferences, and publishing its academic journals；to establish links between academic and industrial researchers as well as commercial vendors; to offer advisory services for China’s major decision-making in BME related fields; and to introduce modern technology for improving health care in China.
Council：
The council is elected by National Assembly every 4 years. The present 9th council was formed in December 2015, consisted of 150 council members among which there are 51 standing members.
Academic Committees：
There are 31 academic committees covering the fastest growing areas in BME, including the areas of Artificial Organs, Bioelectromagnetics, Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Biomedical Measurement, Biomedical Photonics, Biomedical Sensors, Clinical Engineering, Dialysis and Transplantation, Digitalized Medicine and Medical Information, Extracorporeal Circulation, Health Engineering, Heart Rhythm, Intervention Medicine Engineering, Medical Image Information and Control , Medical Physics, Medical Robot Engineering, Medical Ultrasonic Engineering, Nanomedicine and Engineering, Neural Engineering, Precise Radiotherapy Technique, Rehabilitation Engineering, Stem Cell Engineering, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine Engineering and Tumor Targeted Therapy Technology , et al.
Working Committees：
The duties of 17 working committees in the Council focus on Academic Activity, Clinic Link, Development Strategy, Award, Education, Honorary Experts Advice, Industry Promotion, International Affair Liaison, Organization, Publication, Science Popularization and Vocational Training and Youth Cultivation.
Academic Activities：
CSBME holds its National Academic Congress on BME regularly, and its academic committees organize academic activities in their own fields every year. 2017 China Biomedical Engineering Conference (BME2017) was held 20-22 April in Beijing with more than 2200 participants. Moreover, CSBME hosted many academic activities with success worldwide, especially the 12th World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering (WC2012) in Beijing in 2012.
